Not commonly available, this upright deciduous small tree that grows 10’ to 20’ tall with a spread of 10’ to 15.’ Mid to late summer brings fragrant white flowers that attract butterflies. Dark green leaves turn bright yellow and sometimes red in autumn. Flowers produces spikes of dark brown seed capsules that persist into winter providing year round interest. The showy bark of Clethra is an exquisitely mottled exfoliating grey and cinnamon brown. Hardy to Zone 5.
